I'm not referring to the +30 Health mods or the max damage Dragon swords or the Chaos Axes...I'm asking about the Mauls, the Twin Hammers...the unusual weapons. I've only found one Mursaat Hammer and I've only seen the two hammers I mentioned in other posts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The glowy weapons like chaos axes, storm bows, etc all drop in Fissure or UW. Things like Mursaat weapons tend to, logically, come from Mursaat heavy areas. It's kind of random for everything else.

But I'm wondering about the unusual Swords/Hammers/Bows, not the quality of the mods on them. I've seen one Mursaat Hammer, one Ivory Bow and zero Mauls, I was just wondering if there were any areas in the game where they might be more common.

Chaos Axe = Fow, Twin Hammer = ?

fgarvin: chaos axes and eternal shields and ghost staves are FoW/UW only - I've never had one drop. Ivory bows I've found a number of in the desert, same goes for twinhammers & firey dragon swords. I've found ONE stormbow, it was maxdamage and dropped in Ring of Fire - I think those drop more reliably in FoW/UW. Magmas shield is a fairly common drop in Ring of Fire.
Mursaat items are understandably most common in mursaat-infested areas (ie outside Iron Mines), while Stone Summit specific items (one shield and one hammer, I think) are found wherever there's stone summit.

Well, to answer the OP's question, I think that your best bet for obtaining rare and/or unusual items, would just be to play through the game normaly, no farming etc. I never farm and I have found plenty of rare awsome items, and have 40k plus in the bank (not that that is a ton, but its pretty good for not farming or selling).

I think that Anet just wants you to play the game, not care about items and stuff like that, so if you do fun stuff (e.g. going out with friends on quests or missions etc.) you will probably find some pretty cool stuff ^-^

Places to find them? I would say Sorrows Furnace, or UW/FoW.... but dont get me wrong, you can find awsome things outside of those places too! Basic Rule: Do what you think is fun in GW, and just do it!

I've played the game through twice, over 400+ hours total, never really farmed (had some fun with an earth/smite E/Mo though), and have only come across a very few rare items. Yes, I know rare means rare, but only one Mursaat weapon, and one very cool looking War Hammer (which I kept and its not even max dmg)...but c'mon, not even one Dragon Sword the whole time. I am in no way complaining about drop rates, mod quality or anything relating to the two. I'm only looking to collect the more unusual weapons in the game...

Righteous Maul I usually find in the UW and outside camp rankor. (Rare) Stormbows, Eternals, Ghostly are in UW. Chaos, Shadow and all in FoW. Fiery Dragon can drop basically anywhere from desert on. Mursaat from Mursaat. Ivory bows can also drop anywhere, outside camp rankor tends to drop a ton of em. Fellblades also outside camp rankor.

When I say outside rankor I mean Snake Dance

well, dragon swords seem to drop w/ good frequency in fow and uw. Some decent drops from chests in SF/war camp occasionally. But only if you can afford keys for chests---the chests usually drop blue or purple unid'ed armor.

The only magmas shield dropped for me was in Mineral Springs! I think it was during that titan quest, but it didn't drop from a titan, just some ordinary avicara. I was quite surprised because I believed that they can only drop in the Fire Islands.

Up until a couple days ago I used to get some pretty sweet booty out of the chests in the Ring Of Fire, Abaddon's Mouth and Hell's Precipice missions. But I just did Abbaddon's earlier and found only 2 chests (I used to find at least 3 or 4) and they both crapped out purple items. I say "crapped" because that's what they were. I sold them right away and don't even care to remember what they were. I mean c'mon, second last storyline mission and fricken purple items?

Oh well, off to UW and FoW I guess.....
